House on the Hill

For this week, I wanted to try another new technique that I haven’t done much of in the past, depth of field. So, i broke out my handy-dandy house model and gave it a bit of an upgrade, it landed somewhere between the original tiny house, and the haunted house, but either way, it looked adorable, so I was on the right track. Next was to create the scene and get the camera in place, I wanted something simple, so that the effect of the depth would play properly, but not too simple to look empty.

I landed on a simple outdoor scene, with lots of trees and rocks, as I thought these would blur enough to give the proper look, but not too much as to be un-recognizable. It was a bit of a challenge to get everything working properly, and I definitely have some notes jotted down for when I try this again in the future, but all in all, I’m pleased with the end result.

It may however be a while before another depth of field shot is done, my poor computer took an hour to render some of the frames!
